Mental Health

Mental health problems refer to a range of emotional, psychological and psychiatric difficulties including depression, anxiety and schizophrenia.  Mental health problems can affect anyone at any time, including people with a learning disability.

It is estimated that the prevalance of mental health problems amongst adults with a learning disability is approximately 40%.  This is more than double the estimated prevalance rate of mental health problems in the general population (information from Mencap website  www.mencap.org.uk )
