"that feels better" - Helping children with their feelings
It is normal for young children to find it very difficult to manage feelings. They do not have the words to tell you what they are feeling, so they show you how they are feeling instead!
You can help your child by letting them know that feelings, whatever they are, are OK. You can help your child learn to manage their feelings.
Have a look at the downloadable leaflets on the right which contain some of the ideas to help children learn about feelings. The feelings game, with feeling words and feeling faces, helps your child to name feelings. Calming strategies, suggests ideas to help when your child is feeling upset. Young children have very good imaginations, so why not have a look at calming pictures in your head, and practise the exercises with your child.
